Burundi Becomes 191st Member to the World Taekwondo Federation |

Burundi, located in Africa has become the 191st member to the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF, President Jung Won Choue). It's a temporarily member for the time being, however full membership to the World Taekwondo Federation will be decided at the WTF Executive Council Meeting on July 16th in China. Burundi Taekwondo Federation submitted all the required documents on the 25th and WTF has given them a temporary membership based on the approval of the initial documents. Burundi with their temporary member to the WTF is eligible for WTF sanctioned compeitions. However, they do not have the right to vote until July 16th where the final decision will be made regarding their permanent membership status. As a result of their temporary membership to the WTF, they are able to send athletes to compete at '2nd World Championship for disability' in Russia on May 11th. With Burundi on board as a WTF member, World Taekwondo Federation among International Sports Federation (IF) has become the 10th organization to hold most international nations. |

19th Asian Taekwondo Championships, LaJust Electronic Hogu Signed |

LaJust electronic hogu will be used during the '19th Asian Taekwondo Championships' which will take palce on May 20-23 in Astana, Kazakhstan. LaJust electronic hogu was used at last year's 18th championships, which makes this year second consecutive year for Lajust. This news was made public on April 21st after LaJust signed a sponsorship contract with the Asian Championship committee. "With this contract agreement, LaJust will be the official electronic hogu provider for the 19th Asian Taekwondo Championships" said a committee member of the Asian Championships. "We will continue to work towards improving our system for our Taekwondo athletes participating in this championship. With our unique and scientific technology, we will do our best for Taekwondo to become a real sport" said LaJust. |

On December 10th, Seung Wan Lee was elected as the new Chairman of Kukkiwon. Votes by the directors for Seung Wan Lee were unanimous, and for the time being, they have decided to keep the policies status quo. At the board of director, 12 of 18 directors were in attendance. Among the 12 who were in attendance were Jong Seung Lee, Chang Shin Choi, Koo Jin Park, Sang Geun Song, Jong Woong Ahn, and Geun Woo Lee. During the meeting, they discussed the need of reforming Taekwondo special laws. They are planning on creating a special committee to take on the task of implanting the new law. Regarding this situation, "this is not the right time to comment. I do not wish to discuss this any further. I just question if we are heading the right direction or not", one Kukkiwon official said during an interview with MOOKAS MEDIA. Kukkiwon is planning on announcing their plans on the 11th at Kukkiwon board room. |

Northern California Taekwondo Association (NCTA, President William Kim) will host 'Kukkiwon Master Instructor License Course' in Oakland, CA from April 29-May 2. The Kukkiwon master instructor course is usually held only in Korea. If completed successfully, master will be identified as a licensed Taekwondo Master instructor certified by Kukkiwon. Completion of the Kukkiwon Master Instructor course is mandatory in Korea in order to open a Taekwondo school. That is not the case for any other countries. But by obtaining this license certified by Kukkiwon, it gives more credibility to the master. To be eligible for this course, one must be a Kukkiwon Black belt from 4th Dan through 9th.
